Fast Track Instructor Programme 2017 - 2018 (Carolclimb 16 Week Course)

This 16 week course will allow somebody who already has the basic skills to gain the qualifications needed to work in the outdoor industry. It will also provide the perfect vehicle for someone to develop skills through structured learning and a NGB packed programme.

This is an enjoyable course delivered by skilled experienced trainers, who know how to bring out the best in candidates. It will be hard work and challenging but geared to the learning needs and styles of each individual to create maximum achievement and build confidence.

The dates of the programme are the 09 / 11 / 17 to the 03 / 03 / 18 with a two week break over Christmas and the New Year. The programme runs four days a week, 9am to 5pm. Some of the NGB (National Governing Body) courses will also involve weekends and evenings.

Qualifications achievable in the programme ;

Mountain Leader Training and Assessment.

SPA (Single Pitch Award) Training and Assessment.

BCU (British Canoe Union) 1-3 Star Award Kayak/Canoe.

BCU FSRT Foundation Safety and Rescue Training.

UKCC Coach Level 1 Training and Assessment Kayak/Canoe.

NNAS (National Navigation Award Scheme) Bronze, Silver and Gold.

BASP (British Association Of Ski Patrollers) First Aid.

 

Introduction to reviewing techniques and using the outdoors as a tool in development training.

Environmental issues.

Spend time with Qualified Outdoor Activity Providers, National Trust and Forestry rangers.

Wasdale is a fantastic setting with easy access to Wastwater, the Scafell Massif and Central Fells. Excellent climbing and walking on the doorstep.

Accommodation options locally; self-catering hostel accommodation or good deals available with local Inns.

The backdrop of the Wasdale valley and Western Lake District will allow candidates to learn about the flora and fauna, the ecology, the upland farming and the history and people of the Lake District.
