Carol and Richard run 'carolclimb' from Low Gillerthwaite Field Centre, Ennerdale, Cumbria. The Centre is based round a 15thC farmhouse in the remote Ennerdale Valley in the Western Lake District. We run Courses and Adventures throughout the Lake District and Scotland for all ages and abilities.

We also work as Freelance Instructors, Trainers and Technicians on a wide range of Adventure Activities, Training and Development programmes and Corporate challenges.

carolclimb has full indemnity insurance (we can also arrange personal accident and cancellation insurance) We are A.A.L.A. licensed ( No.L4415/R1296). This license shows that our risk assessments and working practices adhere to the industry standards and qualifies us to work with young people from 8 to 18. We are also fully qualified in all the areas in which we work and are police checked.

Carol Emmons

Carol has worked in outdoor education since 1984. Working for the Girl Guides, Outward Bound Mountain Schools at Loch Eil (Scotland) Ullswater and Eskdale ( Lake District ) and other smaller centres. Trekking in the Hindu Kush ( Pakistan ). She has also worked as technical advisor for Bolton Youth Services, Bury Youth Services and Rua Riedh Outdoor Centre. Providing training, advice and in house instructor training and assessment. Training and Assessment of M.L.T.B. Mountain Leadership Candidates, Single Pitch Award and other governing body awards. B.C.U. British Canoe Union Star test awards.

Carol has climbed and paddled extensively throughout the U.K. and Europe also in Turkey, North America and Canada.

Richard Sagar

Richard has been working in the outdoors since 1990, but has been playing out in the mountains for over thirty years. Mountaineering, Rock Climbing, Running, Orienteering and Skiing in the U.K. and Europe. He has done a number of first ascents of British rock climbs. He has also worked skiing, walking and climbing in the French Alps.

He is a time served Lithographer and worked in the printing industry for twenty years. Involved in apprentice training, Health & Safety at work and the re- training of craftsmen and semi skilled workers as the industry embraced new technology during the 80's.

Since 1990 he has worked in the outdoors on a wide range of courses and activities. Management Training and Team building courses for national and international companies, schools, L.E.A's. Outward Bound and Princes Trust Volunteers.

Course planning on the 1990 and 1992 Capricorn 2 Day Orienteering Event

Fishery and Estate maintenance and management on a small Scottish sea trout and salmon fishing estate. Providing fly casting and fishing tuition, guiding and ghilling, outdoor activities and corporate events. He has fished since he was a boy and delights in all aspects of fishing.
